How much can you borrow?
Banks usually cap total EMIs at 40-50% of monthly take-home pay and lend up to 90% of the property value for loans up to ₹30 lakh, 80% up to ₹75 lakh and 75% above that. A co-applicant's income increases eligibility.
Stamp duty & registration by city
- Chennai: 7% stamp duty + 2% registration
- Bengaluru: 5% stamp duty + 1% registration (plus cess)
- Hyderabad: about 7.5% stamp duty, transfer duty and registration
- Coimbatore & Tiruppur: 7% stamp duty + 2% registration
